“My goal is to prepare the student for an entry-level position in the cosmetology industry and to acquire the necessary licenses to practice the art. Cosmetology positions, include but are not limited to Hairstylist, Platform Artist, Salon Manager, Salon Owner, Instructor, Supervisor, Director, or School Owner.”
Our Cosmetology Program is your gateway to a Connecticut Cosmetology License. Our comprehensive curriculum covers everything from hair cutting and styling to skincare and makeup application. Gain hands-on experience in our top-notch facilities under expert guidance. Prepare for a successful cosmetology career with us! Explore your creativity and refine your skills in a supportive learning environment.
Students need to complete 1,500 hours of training as required by Connecticut state law. Our cosmetology program is designed to give you a thorough education that covers a variety of important topics. These include Sanitation and Hygiene, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemical Procedures, Hair Coloring and Lightening, Hair Shaping and Styling, Hair Care and Treatment, the Properties and Disorders of the Hair and Scalp, Business and Professional Relations, as well as the State Laws for Hairdressers and EEOC Guidelines. We use the Milady Standard Professional Cosmetology textbook for the theory portion of the course. This program will prepare you for the Connecticut State exam, helping you develop the skills and knowledge needed to successfully pass the state board exam and become a licensed Cosmetologist.
Theory Portion
The theory part of the course is entirely online, so you will need access to a computer and the internet. Each Monday at 8:00 AM, new assignments will be available, and they must be submitted by the following Sunday by 11:59 PM. You can work at your own pace, but we recommend completing assignments between Wednesday and Friday to keep everything on track. To move on to the next assignment, you'll need to score at least 75% on all quizzes and exams.
Clinical Portion (In-Person)
Our hands-on classes are held at 190 State Street, New London, CT, on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Attendance is required, and classes are held in person only. Please remember to bring your complete student kits with you to each class! We look forward to seeing you and helping you on your journey in cosmetology!
